How to delete it
In Kerfline, open Settings and press Delete my data. The row asks a second time — press it again to confirm. That is the whole process: there is no form to fill in, no email to send, and nothing to prove, because the app already holds the only handle on your record.
The request goes straight to the server, which erases your record and confirms it. Your device then forgets your player key. This cannot be undone, by you or by me.
What is deleted
Everything tied to your identity, from every table the server keeps:
- your player key — the random identifier minted for your install;
- your display name, and with it your leaderboard entries;
- every attempt ever recorded against you — deaths, clears and leaderboard runs alike, including the level, the outcome, how long the attempt lasted, when it started, and the tap recordings kept for your best run and furthest death on each level.
Nothing about your identity is left behind for the server to reattach anything to. If you keep playing afterwards, a brand-new, unrelated identity is created the next time the app needs one.
What is kept
Nothing that identifies you. The global completion percentages shown on each level are computed from all players' records combined; once yours are deleted they no longer contribute to it.
Advertising data held by Google is separate and is not mine to delete. Kerfline shows ads through Google AdMob, and those ad requests go directly from your device to Google rather than through Kerfline's server. Deleting your Kerfline data does not erase anything Google holds — see Google's Privacy Policy and My Ad Center for the controls Google offers.
How long data is kept if you don't delete it
Attempt records are kept indefinitely: there is no fixed deletion schedule, and I would rather say that plainly than invent a number. Each reported attempt carries an id the server uses to avoid double-counting it if your device resends it after being offline, and that protection only works for as long as the record exists. You do not have to wait for a retention period — the steps above remove everything immediately, whenever you choose.
Delete before you uninstall
Your player key lives on your device and is never shown to anyone. Uninstalling Kerfline discards it, and once it is gone there is no way for anyone — including me — to work out which record was yours. That is deliberate, and it is the same property that keeps your play anonymous, but it does mean the erase has to happen while the app is still installed. If you have already uninstalled, reinstalling gives you a fresh identity rather than your old one.
